Fall 2000
My lady friend and I toured Lake Superior the fall of 2000. Really enjoyed the tour! Favorite places: Soo Locks, Magpie Falls, hunting for rocks, Superior Provincial Park and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. The scenic lookouts along the lakeshore line are just outstanding and also we went back in 2001 to take the train ride to Agate Canyon but we went in September and it was a bit too early for fall colors. But it really didn’t make any difference where we stopped  -  the scenic views were all great. What a wonderful trip! I would recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors. All camping areas we visited were great and we are thinking about doing another trip around the lake this September. I know we won’t be disappointed. It took us 8 days when we toured around the lake, but this time we’d take more time and slow down.

We had several favorites. First was the city of Duluth, we liked the harbor walk. We liked Tettegouche State Park in Minnesota, and enjoyed camping there for several days. In Canada we enjoyed Rainbow Falls Provincial Park and stayed there several days exploring. In the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we had a great time in Marquette and enjoyed the weather in Wisconsin also.

My wife and I have always wanted to do the Circle Tour, and last weekend we fired up the motorcycle and ran 1,400 miles in 4 days to complete the tour. We like to rate stretches of roads when we are on the bike and the ride between Nipigon and Marathon Ontario is the best of the route at an A+. The best scenic spot: Ouimet Canyon. The experience of riding the Goldwing through the entire Circle Tour was an experience we won’t soon forget. Thank you for this website and for the info before we left.

Baptism Falls. Truly one of the most beautiful spots on this trip and they have built such excellent access to see the falls from several views, but most importantly from the bottom where falls are best viewed.

My husband, Phil, and I circled Lake Superior in July 1997. We like the whole experience very much, but our favorite spot was Duluth, Minnesota! We could stand for hours at the entrance to the harbor, watch the bridge go up and down and gaze in awe at the gigantic freighters going by.

We took a lazy nine days to do the tour and had one fantastic time. With two-day stops in three spots our pace was that of a snail. Saw some of the most beautiful vistas on the northeast quarter of the lake. We also ate like pigs, with some excellent stops along the way.

I just completed my ride around Lake Superior. I left Sanford Lake (near Midland) on Wednesday, September 3, and returned Saturday, September 6, 2003. My favorite spots were the Terrence Fox Monument just north of Thunder Bay, the town of Rossport, Aguasabon River Gorge, Ontonagon and Porcupine Mountains, and the many miles of beautiful scenery from Nipigon to Wawa. I would be proud to be a member of the Circle Tour Club.

We made it! We left Monday, September 8th, and just returned - 1,700 miles! Perfect weather, hot and hardly any wind. I think we best enjoyed the road from Nipigon to the Soo. We did not think that the terrain was going to be that hilly, almost mountainous. We also really liked the Shipwreck Museum and all the sandy beaches in Michigan. I will especially remember the brew pubs at Grand Marais and Marquette, Michigan. We will probably do this again and will heartily recommend it to others.

We especially enjoyed Thunder Bay, Fort William and the beautiful beaches. We went to the Soo locks, and took the tour of the sunken ships. We all enjoyed that.

We loved Pancake Bay and Ney’s Provincial Park. Swimming in the surf was a hit with the kids. We also had a great time at Old Fort William and Grand Portage.

We enjoyed the entire trip. Our favorite scenery spots were the North Shore, Wawa, Ontario, and the Keweenaw Peninsula. Our favorite spot for a meal was the Deep Water Grille, Ashland, Wisconsin. Although this was our first Circle Tour - it will not be our last.
