During the week of July 12 thru the 18th, my wife and I toured around Lake Superior on our motorcycles. We did the trip in 6 days, but really should have taken 12. It was a beautiful ride, but we were chased by a rain storm for most of the trip. It finally caught up to us on the leg from Wawa to the Upper Peninsula. We spent 300 miles riding in steady rain for 9 hours. We were very happy at the end of that day to finally arrive at our motel in Marquette. I would love to do this trip again but, as I said before, I would take twice as long for the ride. It is absolutely beautiful!!

We left with only a small 3x5 map showing a section of the lake. We thought we didn’t need more. Bought the Travel Guide in Two Harbors! Then just winged it. Favorites were: The falls and lighthouses. Beautiful! Kakabeka Falls and the Amethyst Mines were great. There was an old codger who had his own bucket he passed out. We stayed at Wawa at a placed owned by Polish folks who had come to Toronto from Poland, where they ended up meeting people from the same town in Toronto, and are now both in Wawa! If we’d stopped at everything we wanted to see, we’d still be driving! It was very disappointing that all the Birch trees are gone. Saw them years ago! Were able to feed the little bears in Newberry, Michigan (fruit loops). The Terry Fox Memorial - an incredible story - was very moving. Will do the suspension bridge next time.

I’d like to request the certificate for completion of the Circle Tour. We were traveling by motorcycle. Started the tour on August 2 and completed on August 7. Began in Duluth and traveled clockwise around the lake. Favorite sites were Kakabeka Falls in Ontario and Brockway Mountain Drive overlook along the Keweenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan.

We did the Circle Tour around Lake Superior from July 17-25. We started in Duluth and went around the Wisconsin and Michigan sides first. Highlights were the boat tour to the Picture Rocks National Lakeshore at Munising, Pancake Bay and Rainbow provincial parks in Ontario and the road from Sault Ste. Marie to Wawa, Ontario.

I just returned from a motorcycle trip around Lake Superior with a friend of mine on our motorcycles. We left last week Thursday and completed it on Sunday, August 9. My favorite spot was riding down into Sibley Peninsula and exploring Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and Silver Islet. The roads down there, combined with the nature, provided for some great riding experiences. We explored Silver Islet and then took a gravel/dirt road up the east side of the Peninsula to get back on Highway17. We logged just over 2,000 miles on our trip and rode through some terrible rain from Nipigon to Wawa. The highlight of that leg was stopping in Marathon at Rumours Deli to get some chili and hot chocolate to warm up.
