My brother and I just finished the Circle Tour. Had a wonderful trip. Favorite place to stay was Salzburger Hof Resort at Batchawana Bay. Favorite activities included Agawa Canyon Tour Train and walking the suspension bridges near Dorion.

Completed our Circle Tour from July 7 through July 15. We went clockwise from Duluth, Minnesota. We alternated between camping and B&Bs so had the best of both worlds. Highlights included making it to the tip of two state high points - Eagle Mountain near Grand Marais, Minnesota, and Mt. Arvon in Michigan near L’Anse (not much of a hike here). Friendly people in Rossport at the Willow Inn B&B, which was very nice, and at Serendipity Restaurant, which was great, and also the outfitter across the street from the Willow Inn. The #1 Best Highlight of the trip was camping at the beach at Agawa Park in Lake Superior Provincial Park in Ontario. Fabulous sunset that we shall never forget! Camping on the beach at Porcupine Mountain was a close second. Enjoyed Bayfield, Wisconsin, also. The long, sandy beaches in Ontario and northern Michigan were what surprised us the most. We were used to the rugged shoreline of the Minnesota side. Your magazine was a great help with planning the trip and we enjoyed every minute of the journey. Nine days seemed just right for us. We took a sideline visit to Mackinac Island, so seven days would be good, too. Some best spots for photographs included Cascade River Park Falls in Minnesota, the Pinguisibi Trail with its cascading falls near Agawa Bay in Ontario, Copper Harbor on the Brockway Mountain Drive and the Porcupine Mountains-Presque Isle River area. We’ll do it again someday! P.S. We liked the Circle Tour road signs.

We started the tour on July 31, 2006, at Duluth, Minnesota, and ended in Duluth on August 6, 2006. Everyone had a great experience and has their own favorite spot. The harbor cruise in Duluth was full of history and beauty of the past and present industry that forged the nation through the shipping industry of raw materials through its ports. The train ride up the north shore with the historic past of the train Depot Museum and the Abyss at the Great Lakes Aquarium, seeing Split Rock Lighthouse, hiking to the falls at Gooseberry and Tettegouche, going into Canada was the family’s first out-of-country experience and one they will never forget, going to the border where the time zone changes heading to Thunder Bay, stopping at Fort William then Panorama Amethyst Mine, going to Sleeping Giant Park, seeing the Inukshuk figures on the rocks from Marathon to Wawa, walking to the Magpie Falls, making a stop at Old Woman Bay, walking on the beach knee-deep in Lake Superior, stopping at the casino and seeing the locks, and walking the boardwalk at Sault Ste. Marie, enjoying the shipwreck museum at Whitefish Bay, stopping in Munising looking out over Grand Isle and much more. We will go back to do the tour again with so much more to and see, spending time together as a whole family. What a week we’ll never forget.

I completed the trip around Lake Superior on my bicycle over 15 days. I averaged 75 miles a day, camped along the way and carried everything I needed on my bike. The trip was fantastic, the scenery was great, however, the better the scenery, the harder the biking. The hills in Canada were difficult cycling, but provided excellent views of Lake Superior. I began in Superior, Wisconsin, and went around counterclockwise. The best part of the trip was the great people I met camping and other places along the way. My favorite camping spot was the Mad Moose Lodge in Montreal River Harbour, Ontario. It provides a great spot to see the sunset over the lake.

We decided to visit our nearest neighbors to the north at Terrace Bay, Ontario. We left on September 25th and stayed the first night at Grand Marais, Minnesota. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LITTLE COMMUNITY, we are almost ready to move there. Due to three days of continuously rainy weather, we did not have many “out of the car” experiences. The fall colors were gorgeous as well. The highway was in great condition with little construction. Lots of trucks with very courteous drivers. We tell others it took us three days to drive around our “front yard.” What a great trip. We plan on repeating it with hopefully better weather for side trips and exploring. Hope to enjoy the window sticker and Certificate of Accomplishment. What a great 1,200 miles, especially for Yoopers, eh?
