I drove 14 hour per day for a total of 28 hours on motorcycle. Grand Portage to Thunder Bay is real pretty - it’s a very beautiful ride! And the Canadian people are sure friendly!

I rode my motorcycle around Lake Superior (Circle Tour) four years ago, during the last week of August. My favorite part was up in northern Minnesota, near the Silver Bay area. Very beautiful! I am getting married this weekend, and my wife and I will ride the tour for our Honeymoon!

My wife and I circled Lake Superior from August 20-23, 2003. We like everything except the 3 hour long Apostle Island boat tour. Favorite spots are: Kakabeka Falls, Ouimet Canyon and  Agawa Rock in Ontario.

We did the Circle Tour August 17-24, 2003. Our favorite spots were Neys and Agawa Bay Provincial Parks, and we really enjoyed the glass bottom shipwreck tour in Munising, Michigan.

My wife and I drove around Lake Superior in our old convertible the week of July 19-26. It was a great trip, very scenic and relaxing. The locks at Sault Ste. Marie were our favorite stop, but the whole trip was really great. We also spent a couple days on Mackinac Island before heading back north and then west across the south side of the lake. Our trip started and ended in Duluth, Minnesota.
Ron Wical, West Fargo, North Dakota

Visiting Old Fort William and the scenery around Nipigon was outstanding - I go back to retrace the favorite parts again and again.

The beauty of the places and the people we saw and met will be with us forever. I was really impressed. Rossport Inn was a favorite night stop. The Bushplane Museum in the Sault was fantastic. The lighthouse B&B at Two Harbors was great.
Jerry Weltzin, Zumbro Falls, Minnesota

I started August 20th in Duluth, ended just before Sept.ember 11th in Duluth. Each place has a flavor - a memory and a story. Watching the sunset at happy hour over Montreal River. Meeting the day each morning, knowing each day would bring something new, the ’Flavor of the Day.’ Side journeys are wonderful.
Robert Kruger, Morton Grove, Illinois

Took a month to complete on bicycle. Came away from the tour impressed with the dynamic comparisons from a bicycle seat - how green is so many different colors, how up and down have contrast within themselves depending upon the view and terrain. A very special personal experience.

Montreal River - scenery was gorgeous - loved the outcroppings. Kim’s advice when motorcycling around the lake: “It doesn’t matter if it’s August - bring snowmobile gloves!“

The very first year it was possible - 1976, he thinks, for the first time. Many times around since.
Silver Islet is the favorite spot. Best experience on first trip was at beach near Wawa. Met a large French/Canadian man chopping wood who said, when he saw Frank & family, “Just what I prayed for! Enough wood for a fire, and now someone to share it and a beer with!“
Frank & Delores Jezek, Ontonagon, Michigan
August 20-30, 1996
Two favorite spots: The Cliffs on the road up to Lake Nipigon and Neys Provincial Park. Favorite Experiences were taking a quick dip in Lake Nipigon and listening to the waves roll in all night at Neys beach. Other great times include hiking the Thunderbird Lookout Trail up to the lookout, biking from our Neys campsite up to the highway to get an ice cream bar, canoeing at Obatanga and picking blueberries for breakfast.
Janet Dalquist Houghton, Michigan

Grand Portage Lodge & Casino for the unique geographical/historic setting and its park interpretation was greatly appreciated. The casino provided a respite from travel routine with limited blackjack losses; Gitchee Gumee RV Park in Marquette, Michigan The cultural research and Indian Boulder Carvings with a guided interpretation was a great learning experience and fond memory.
Karl Grube, Pinckney, Michigan
Five separate trips around the lake from 1968-1976.
Enjoyed stops in Wawa and Thunder Bay.
James Hughes, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
When I was growing up my parents would take me on a drive around Lake Superior every summer. One year we would go up through Duluth and Superior and back down through Sault Ste. Marie. The next year we would go the opposite way. No matter what we always stayed in Wawa Ontario. I like Wawa so much that my husband Robert and I go there now. Love visiting the Wawa goose and enjoy Young’s General Store. My other favorite place is Split Rock Lighthouse, my favorite lighthouse.
Julie Mullenbach, Portage, Wisconsin
July 2001
Favorite Spot: Lakeshore Resort & Salzburger Hof Restaurant in Batchawana Bay, Ontario. The German-Austrian style meals were the best Cuisine of the trip! Agawa Indian Crafts - what a selection and tourist entertainment center! The gas pumping service was exceptional including free coffee.
Kathryn Grube, Rogersville, Tennessee
Favorite Spots: Red Rock, Old Woman Bay.
Paula Ellis, Duluth, Minnesota
I’ve completed the Lake Superior Circle tour MANY times since 1976. I do all or part of each summer. Lake Superior is my favorite destination any chance I get as it is so close to where I live. I love the endless beach at Pancake Bay and walking the shoreline. There is no way to describe any one place or experience easily-it is all so magnificent and new each visit. My favorite cities are Grand Marais, Minnesota & Michigan, Rossport, the Soo and Munising.
Susan Puncochar, Eagle River, Wisconsin
