September 2000 Loved Rossport, Willows B&B and the Shipwreck Museum in Marquette. Dan Webster, Fort Frances, Ontario August 1998 via motorcycle Checked out a new Harley as well as the Circle Tour at the same time. We spent a week in early August riding through more beautiful country than we thought possible. It was a real treat that we both enjoyed immensely and talk about frequently. It’s difficult to pick a favorite spot, but Duluth is very special along with the many cozy, friendly towns along the way. A great trip we plan to do again, soon. Carl & Sharon Gerbasi, Ashland, Ohio October 2001 Doug and Kelly’s favorite spot was Lake Superior Provincial Park. Doug & Kelley Drawbraugh, Milford, Michigan August 2001 Completed with adult son. We still talk about the sunset viewed from our campsite on Pancake Bay. Richard C. Chambers, Ann Arbor, Michigan Favorite Spots: Red Rock and Old Woman Bay. G.L. Liebertz, Duluth, Minnesota October 2000 Toured the lake in 7 days around the Canadian Thanksgiving Holiday. Favorite Hotel: AmericInn in Tofte. Favorite Spot: The Porkies. Favorite Experiences: laughing hysterically over the dessicated hotdogs we ate at Sylvester’s Bar in Ishpeming and freezing on the Soo Locks tour. Marcia, Greg, Victor and Kat Kuehl, Green Bay, Wisconsin June/July 2000 Our favorite experience that trip was our stay at Naniboujou Lodge. It was our first time to the North Shore and the peacefulness was wonderful. We returned last year after a craving for the Naniboujou omelet with wild rice. Also, just outside Terrace Bay we came upon a moose and three calves. That was a real treat for us! Doug & Debbie Walters, Brookville, Ohio 2000 We camped on the shores of Lake Superior from Minnesota through Ontario and back, taking photographs for a book. On route, we met many people going our way to make the circle tour or going in the opposite direction. Favorite camping spot: Neys Provincial Park. Experience: Driving to Pancake Bay, Ginger was driving as I dozed and she spotted a moose sitting by the side of the road and thought it was a statue until it turned its head to glare at her. Shouted at me to get the camera, but the moose got up and ambled across the highway about 40 feet in front of us before I got the chance. Bob & Ginger Schmidt, Chicago, Illinois August 2002 via motorcycle starting in Louisville KY. Mileage just under 3,000 miles. Favorite Spot: Whitefish Point and the Shipwreck Museum. Robert Huffman, Dixie Baird, Fritz Parkins, Niels Ewing, Prospect, Kentucky, Louisville, Kentucky September/October 2002 Favorite spot was Ouimet Canyon Provincial Park, “Beautiful Canyon.“ Most interesting experience was the Pictographs. Can’t believe we went down and then up that trail! Richard & Janice Crowell, Maple Grove, Minnesota Summer 2002 I had the great fortune to choose the circle tour as our family vacation this past summer. We toured around and stayed at three different Ontario Provincial Parks and three other parks in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Everyone had a great time. The Lake Superior Travel Guide was a nice guide to have along. Our favorite spot was Batchawana Bay, which had a great park and great swimming. We have told all of our friends to think of this as a future vacation option. Paul, Karen, Matt, Samantha and Kate Dale, Alexandria, Minnesota September 2002 Favorite Spots: Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, Magpie High falls, Old Woman Bay, Amethyst Mine in Thunder Bay. Favorite experience was building an Inuksuk with husband and friends. Story: Neighbor Richard said they would follow along wherever I went because I had the Lake Superior Travel Guide - so there was no way we could miss the Amethyst Mine. The road going in was awful, long and we didn’t think it would end. After we saw a sign for RV Parking it went on for another 5 miles at least. As we finally arrived and were parking, I was just about to step into the camper bathroom when I hear a man telling Al they are going to blast and we have to get in the building. I stick my head out and say, “No that’s OK“ thinking he wanted us to view it, but he was TELLING us to MOVE and now!! We did, with Al driving and me on the pot. Richard is rethinking his policy on following me anywhere! Carol Ferrian, Al, Richard and Janice, Maple Grove, Minnesota September 1997 Started at the American Soo and driving first through Michigan. Most memorable: bumping into a moose on a twilight stroll on Isle Royale and the scenery in Lake Superior Provincial Park, Ontario. Jan D. Carline & Carol Sue Ivory-Carline, Seattle, Washington August 2-4, 2002 via motorcycle The first night was spent at Red Rock, the second at Sault Ste. Marie. I had breakfast after Red Rock at a B&B in Rossport, a beautiful little town, and I think that town and the road that morning just past were the highlights of the trip. John P. Snyder, Appleton, Wisconsin Summer 1995 Digging for amethysts in Thunder Bay and Split Rock Lighthouse. Beverly White, White Pigeon, Michigan June 1994 Favorite spot was Agawa Bay and the petroglyphs. Also enjoyed Madeline Island. Dan Wade, Fridley, Minnesota Three times in 1989, 1990, 1995 In 1995 we went “over the top“ from East to West and 1990 West to East. It’s gorgeous both ways, but somehow better East to West, the prettiest ride we’ve EVER taken and hope to do it again - more than once. Robert Woodbury, Winslow, Maine October 1988 It was our anniversary trip. We always enjoy Thunder Bay and Wawa and most of all we enjoy our trips to Duluth. The color that year was beautiful all across Canada. R.V. Mason, Minocqua, Wisconsin February/March 2001 via snowmobile starting/ending in Thief River Falls, Minnesota The tough, rugged terrain between Marathon and Terrace Bay was most impressive. Jim Keely, Thief River Falls, Minnesota February/March 2001 via snowmobile starting/ending in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Mike Ward, Savage, Minnesota February/March 2001 via snowmobile starting/ending in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Ron Ray, Thief River Falls, Minnesota July 2002 by motorcycle Honeymoon trip, favorite spot was Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. Tom & Judy Studzinski, Milwaukee, Wisconsin |
