Favorite Spots: This is a toughie - lots of contenders. We were very impressed by Ontario Provincial Parks. We stayed in Sleeping Giant, Rainbow Falls and Lake Superior Parks, and all of them were great! We also visited Neys, and wish we had stayed there. Our kids spent several hours playing on the picnic area beach and exploring the rocky shore - beautiful! We also had a nice time at an agate beach on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point was fun to explore! We caught the Blueberry Festival in Paradise, Michigan - the pancake brunch was outstanding - yum!

I have many favorite places on the Circle Tour; I went with my grandparents and had a great time! One of my favorites was “Where It All Began” with Winnie-the-Pooh. Whitefish Point was fun and very historical. It was fun to cross the border.

Sault St. Marie to Wawa, Canada - Michigan and Canada were very friendly.

Went alone and saw all the extremes of weather. Pictured Rocks boat trip, Thunder Bay, Old Fort William, Inn at Rossport - even with the trains - noisy as hell, yet somehow serene, Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point.

We traveled from Saturday, July 24, to Friday, July 30, 2004.
Wish we’d have had more time! Our highlights - that’s tough. What surprised and impressed us the most was the scenery in Canada.

I just arrived home after finally finishing the circle of Lake Superior. I didn’t do it all in one trip. It has taken me five years to finish.
The first part was the Canadian side in 1999. Then last year I did most of the Michigan side. And now I did it all. My favorite spot, I think, is the area around Thunder Bay. Ontario. The most enjoyable was last summer going to the lighthouse at Copper Harbor with my mother who is afraid to go on boats, but wanted to see the lighthouse.
Lee Stroschine, Hopkins, Michigan
We began our tour on the fifth of June 2004, and completed the trip on the 16th.
We started out at the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin, then drove in a counterclockwise direction around the lake, finishing up in Duluth. While we enjoyed every stop on the trip, our favorite was the Apostle Islands and Bayfield, Wisconsin. Our trip was early in the season and we encountered few crowds. As such, Bayfield and Madeline Island were quiet and peaceful, a great place to decompress after the school year (we are both teachers).

My wife and I did the Circle Tour years ago. Now, we are leaving tomorrow to do the tour again but this time with our 3-year-old daughter.
Some of our favorite spots we want Madeline to see include the beautiful Ontario provincial parks (we will be camping), the numerous waterfalls, looking for amethyst near Thunder Bay and, of course, visiting our namesake town, the town of Ouimet and Ouimet Provincial Park. This park interests me as an amateur naturalist and, of course, for our relationship. Thank you so much.

We started out our tour from Grand Marais, Michigan, on July10th. We went through Customs at the Soo on the 14th of July.
Our tour took us to the Agawa Canyon, Wawa (4 days), Rainbow Falls Provincial Park, Thunder Bay (Old Fort William, Kakabeka Falls and Ouimet Provincial Parks. My wife was most impressed with the Aguasabon Gorge at Terrace Bay. That was one of the most beautiful areas out of many we observed. As we are from the Panhandle of Florida, Carrabeele, my favorite experience was the coolness of the days and nights and the low humidity in July! This is a blessing that very few of those living along this route realize they have. To have this and all the vistas that appear as you drive the Trans Canada Highway is outstanding!

My husband and I completed the Circle Tour on July 28, 2004
We has such a wonderful time!! The purpose of the trip was to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary. Our favorite thing was seeing the northern lights near Thunder Bay, Ontario! We camped every night and it was very romantic. My husband taught me how to fish from our raft. So glad we decided to do the Circle Tour!

62 years old and drove 1,332 miles solo! I really enjoyed: the Lake Superior Travel Guide, spotting the Circle Tour logo on my journey, the format of the guide, doing the circle tour “by the spirit” without a pre-plan and without reservations; I just took it “one day at a time” trusting the Travel Guide for all the information I needed to have a grand time. My favorite spot was Copper Harbor. My favorite experience was everything about Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and especially going through the locks in the tour boat. Thank you for all the pleasure.

My favorite place on the Circle Tour was Pebble Beach in Marathon. All those different colors, so smooth from being in the lake and so unusual.

Overall great, but Best: 1. Vista Fleet Sightseeing tour. 2. Magpie Falls. 3. Lock Tours. The amethyst mine, copper mine and lighthouses were good, but the tour at Old Fort William was too long for me.

The Circle Tour of Lake Superior gave us many memories to cherish. A highlight of the tour was the Historical Society Museum and the lighthouse at Ontonagon, Michigan. The tour guides went out of their way to take time on a Sunday to show us this special place. We wish them much success in their restoration efforts. Our other favorite place was the Heritage Museum in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Pat: My favorite was the Sault Ste. Marie tour of the locks. It was a great place! And a great tour! David: The entire trip was great. It is hard to pick only one highlight. The lighthouse tour at Ontonagon was tied with the Soo Locks, but the personal tour at the Ontonagon Light moved it to #1.

What a beautiful trip we had! The weather was perfect, the scenery majestic, and we would do it again. We left between storms on August 2 and returned August 5. We toured by Honda Goldwing. My favorite spot was our first stop in Washburn for the night. We had a hotel on the pier of a marina that was filled with sailboats. The calm water and boat reflections were a photographer’s dream. Creig’s favorite spot was Batchawana Bay where we picked up rocks and sat on the shore of a beautiful beach. It was breathtaking. Thank You!
Creig & Ione Mertens, Staples, Minnesota
